Popular Childrens Books Turned Into Movies

There are a number of popular childrens books that have been turned into movies, some with success and some not so much. In most cases, people will admit that the movie 'ruined' the book, didn't follow the book closely enough or just could not capture the essence that the book had. Some teenage and childrens books that have been turned into movies long ago and as of late are; Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Cat In The Hat, Twilight, Ella Enchanted, The Golden Compass, The Harry Potter series, Jumanji and many more. Some of these have been a treat to many children and many others are disappointed in them if they have read the book beforehand. What are some of your favorites or favorite disappointments?
